DESCRIPTION

This track conrtains Course 112: Investigations by Intellectual Property Rights Holders and Course 113: Law Enforcement-Led Investigations with a focus on utilization of various types of investigations and enforcement mechanisms for brand protection.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of brand protection investigations led by a brand.
  • Understand how to create an investigation plan, implement effective protocols, and develop appropriate tactics.
  • Determine the elements for a clear and concise investigative report and case management. 
  • Determine actionable recommendations for developing solid investigations based on industry best practices.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of Law Enforcement Agencies.
  • Identify key national and international agencies involved in illicit trade enforcement.
  • Recognize the phases of an investigation, including intelligence gathering, case development, and enforcement actions.
  • Explore best practices for intelligence sharing, case referrals, and joint investigations.
  • Understand jurisdictional challenges and how to tailor investigative approaches accordingly.
  • Assess the impact of enforcement actions on criminal networks and illicit markets.
